On parle de suractivité en traitant des cas Venetian Snares ou Luke vibert, qui sortent plusieurs disques par an, sans faiblir, et cela depuis quelques années. Mais le petit français RA est touché, sur 2007, de la même maladie, en se permettant de jongler, plus ou moins volontairement, avec de multiples labels : Un album indispensable sorti en début d’année, Wxfdswxc2, sur le défunt Sublight Record. Un 12” en collab avec Mad EP, Ultra Food, sur Ad Noiseam. Un Ep oscillant entre inédits et remix du titre Ev.Panic par des grosses têtes de la maison Planet-Mu ( µ-ziq, dDamage, Venetian Snares…). Et enfin un nouvel album à sortir début 2008, sur Ad Noiseam encore. Et donc ce EP qui sort sur une structure naissante, Disco_r.dance.
Sans compter que RA passe l’autre moitié de son temps à enfiler sa cape de graphiste, en signant artworks, courts-métrages et expositions…
4 Titres donc. Sur un petit disque de 8cm… La recette, elle, ne va pas changer. Machines traumatisées pour tympans en manque de sévices, Two Heads va pourtant ne pas se la jouer (trop) sauvage. Ce qui change surtout, c’est que RA va signer tous ses prochains projets « Raoul Sinier ». (Ce qui n’est pas un mal vu que l’alias “RA” est pas mal utilisé.)
Mired Creed va débouler sans crier gare. A vous faire regretter de ne pas avoir vérifié le volume avant d’enfourner le disque. Une sonorité hurlante, presque humaine, va littéralement s’amuser à couper en tranche une mélodie morbide, mélangeant choeurs énigmatiques et claviers gras. La tempête se calme, pour laisser la messe prendre de l’ampleur, et choisir des synthés fragiles et superbes pour parure. C’est à tomber. Mais le calme apparent, surtout si l’on a jeté une oreille au Wxfdswxc2, est toujours trompeur avec l’artiste, et le maelstrom de déchirures, de beats indomptables et de grâce assassinée repart de plus belle. La montée finale en paralysera plus d’un. RA nous sert là un de ces meilleurs titres, renversant, savant toujours doser parfaitement le chaos absolu et la beauté pure, en ne laissant perler cette dernière que pour lui donner de faux espoirs. La “déchirure” parcourant le titre est impressionnante à l’écoute, prouvant que le mec sait toujours aussi bien faire crier ses machines, à les rendre presque humaines dans leur douleur.
A coté, Warm Hall en serait presque étonnamment calme. Pourtant ce mélange étrange de samples de films pilonnés par un rythme bien crade est loin d’être d’une sérénité absolue. La mélodie distillée par le clavier est malsaine, presque dissonante sur certains passages. Et cette fausse tranquillité nauséeuse nous renvoie directement au dernier disque d’ µ-ziq, . A se demander si la posture à adopter est le sourire ou l’effarement. Le morceau répondra de lui-même sur sa dernière ligne, en laissant un synthé grave dérouler une mélopée presque tubesque, portée par le rythme saccagé du début. On aurait presque eu envie que ce dernier moment soit plus étiré, pour s’offrir une belle explosion finale.
Les frustrés se consoleront avec Out There, écrasant sous un déluge de saccades une mélodie qui semblait pourtant limpide, avant de laisser un semblant d’orgue électronique déployer ses ailes en embarquant un bon gros beat hip-hop des familles. Et malgré ses breaks et autres cassures impromptues, le titre va se laisser aller, avec une aura encore plus malsaine que Warm Hall. Car si ce dernier avait l’excuse de la mélodie fragile, pas encore mature pour hurler son bien être, ici, aucune hésitation, on vous viole le cerveau de la plus sombre des façons… RA nous secoue la gueule avec une mélodie, là où il avait plus coutume de le faire avec de gros pieds gigantesques et des constructions déstructurés.
Two Heads s’ouvrait magistralement, et va se finir de la même façon. Animal Sawtool (pendant canin de son Human Sawtool sur son premier disque ?), c’est une mélodie imparable, un rythme imparable, une montée en puissance imparable. Presque sans surprise dans son déroulement sur ses deux premiers tiers, il va imposer une grandiloquence, une puissance impressionnante, qui semble tout écraser sur son passage. Contrairement aux autres titres, pas une rupture ne va tenter de s’immiscer dans tableau. Pas un parasite ne va avoir l’audace de tenter l’impossible : arrêter ce rythme implacable, cette composition limpide et effrayante. Pour sa dernière minute, Animal Sawtool va basculer dans le cauchemar, avec des semblants de cris indescriptibles (voix féminine ? crissement de pneus ? baleines technoïdes ? scie musicale ? ) toujours noyés sous les nappes rugueuses.
4 Titres, c’est peu, d’autant plus que l’Ep risque d’être coton à trouver. Il va falloir arpenter le net pour avoir la chance de mettre la main dessus ( Raoulsinier.com ou Discordance.biz pour aller au plus direct), à moins que votre revendeur préféré puisse passer la commande. RA(oul) continue à tracer son chemin en devastant tout. Et cet EP contient sûrement deux des meilleurs titres qu’ait pu nous broder RA sur ses disques, Mired Creeds et Animal Sawtool. Pas besoin de confirmation :
