Sincèrement je me suis douté qu’il y aurait une couille avec le concert de Oshiripenpenz, sans connaître le groupe. Le nom évidemment (litteralement, Panpan culcul), les musiques débiles sur le myspace, et une intuition bizarre, qui m’a poussé à me mettre sur le coté de la scène, alors que j’aurais pu me faufiler droit devant, au milieu.Bref, le chanteur arrive, nous dit bonsoir, et se fait délibérément vomir sur le public au premier rang. Pour cela, il s’enfonce des gants de ski (?!?) sous la glotte. La musique démarre, le frontman beugle, les cheveux collés au micro, dégoulinant de sécrétions gluantes. Une amie veut partir, elle a envie de vomir. Légitime. Des japonais remontent leurs jeans jusqu’au genoux, et partent patauger dans la flaque. Bon, soyons sérieux un moment, le chanteur s’enfonce le micro dans le cul pour nous faire partager du bruit anal sur sound-system. Apres 1 minute, rien de sort, alors il fait le cochon pendu sur un projecteur, et manque de se casser la trombine en le débranchant. Interressant. Et encore, vu les cicatrices qu’il avait sur le corps (genre des croix, des trucs bien marqués), on a sûrement évité le pire, il s’enfonce peut etre des couteaux dans les bras, un truc dans le genre…
Les demoiselles de Nisennenmondai prennent le relais, et m’administrent une belle claque. Parfait groupe de Post-rock-prog-instrumental en apparence, avec un trio basse / gratte / batterie, et des compositions marathons s’étirant parfois sur plus de 20 minutes, les Japonaises servent en fait une mixture coup de poing : Leurs fresques rock sont composées comme des morceaux de Techno, t’as l’impression d’entendre Underground Resistance remixé en acoustique, avec superpositions bien progressives des éléments, lignes de basses de tueurs et batterie à 90% centrée sur les Kick réguliers et hit-hat facétieux. La batteuse, parlons en. Hypnotique, réglée comme une horloge, elle peut jouer comme un sampler pendant 20 minutes, pour exploser sans prévenir dans un déluge de rythmes ultra-techniques à la Lightning Bolt. Si le groupe, sur disque, manque encore un peu de punch (on aimerait injecter des thunes dans la production) les 3 japonaises semblent incontestables en live, rendant dingue une salle entière encore droguée par de sympathiques relents de vomis. Surprise, je ne pensais pas qu’une formation rock allait me proposer le meilleur live Techno qui m’a été donné de voir depuis un bail.

Well well well. Honestly, I knew there would be weird stuff with Oshiripenpenz, even without knowing the band before. Because of the name, of course ( ass-spanking in japanese), because of the retarded music on their Myspace page, and because of a weird intuition, which make me stick to the right-hand side of the stage, when I could have been right in the front. Ok, to make it short, the singer came on, said “Hello everyone” and made himself puke on the audience. To accomplish this, he plunged Ski gloves (?!?) down his throat. The music starts, the frontman begins to scream, his hair stuck to the mic, dripping with sticky secretions. A friend asks to leave, she wants to puke too. People in the audience hike their jeans up to the ankles, and go dance in the vomit pool. Ok, let’s be serious a minute, the singer sticks the mic in his ass, trying to make some kind of anal sound-system noise. After 1 minute, nothing came, so he reaches for the projectors to hang himself upside down, unplugs one, falls but fails to slice his head in two. Actually, when you see the scars on his body, (carved cross on the chest, deep injuries and so on…), we’ve probably avoided the worst. Maybe he plunges knives in his arms, or stuff like that, can’t tell.
The ladies of Nisennenmondai take the stage, and turn out to be far more exciting. A perfect Post-rock-prog-instrumental group in appearance, a trio of bass / scratch / drums, with tracks stretching over 20 minutes, these three japanese are in fact definitely more suprising and straightforward : Their rock songs are built like Techno tracks, with progressive overlays of many elements, killer basslines and drums, which are 90% centered on a giant, regular kick. Hey, let’s talk about the drummer. Hypnotic, set as a clock, she can play like a sampler for half an hour, and suddenly explode with ultra-technical rythms like Lightning Bolt. If Nisennenmondai, on their LP, seem somewhat to lack energy (You want to inject some money into the production everytime you listen to their cd), the girls are awesome live, destroying an entire room still dazed by some friendly steaming vomit. Surprised; I didn’t think that a rock band could give me the best Techno live I’ve seen this year.
